Wildflowers Around Diamond Tail Ranch
There are at least 95 species of wildflowers on Diamond Tail. Many of these plants are silvery or wooly gray and are covered with tiny white hairs to reflect the sun. Six foot tall desert Sunflowers also sprout up here and there, dispersed by the birds. Scattered colonies of Scarlet Indian Paint Brush paint the landscape in pale green leaves and a flower which is a loud orange red. And everywhere can be found the Spreading Four-o’clocks growing four feet across and covered in hundreds of trumpet shaped purple flowers. Or watch for little mounded ground covers Desert Innocence and Early Easterdaisy with their cheerful pink and big white flowers. There are plenty of wildflowers in this high desert!
